Seed Germination Tips
Hi my name is Suzane, I am in my fifties and have been smoking weed for about thirty years. It is only recently that I have started to grow medical marijuana from seed and have tried a couple of ways to germinate them. Here is are some tips from my experiences.
First I used clean plastic food trays lined with 2 layers of paper towel that had been soaked with water. ( I prefer to use distilled water for this delicate first stage )
I then sprinkle on a few seeds and cover lightly with another soaked paper towel, this is then put in a ziplock bag and put somewhere warm, not hot, for a day or so, I put mine in the bottom of the airing cupboard. Check every day, I found most of mine germinated in 24 hours.
What they need is warmth and humidity.
Then it was on to the seedling stage I carefully picked up each seedling with tweezers and put them into plastic cups filled with prepared soil, I had cut a few slits in the bottom for drainage and covered with ziplock bags and left on a sunny window sill, apart from my planting the seedlings upside down, this was successful and grew into a good crop, the seedlings did push through the soil a few days later than they should due to them being planted with the sprout up instead of down, the sprout being the beginning of the root.
I have also germinated the seeds in a small plant propagator, some are heated but mine wasn’t so I put a heating pad set to low underneath. I used the same technique with the paper towels to line the bottom of the propagator and replaced the domed top, with the vents closed, again checking everyday.
I now tend to use the small dry discs for seedlings, that when soaked are tiny containers that the seedlings roots can grow through. I can then plant the the whole thing in the large growing container, this way there is less stress to the plant than having to transplant it twice.
I spoke to a fellow smoker who had grow his own, and I found his tips and advice very helpful.
He also recommended Growing elite Marijuana which I have found invaluable, a great guide.
Always have scrupulously clean hands for handling seedlings to give them the best chance of healthy growth.
Make sure the containers and tools, like the tweezers are clean and sanitised too.

Ryan Riley’s guide is 100% ‘stoner friendly’ and designed for the regular person, not a science buff. He has managed to create a system that is so easy to understand almost anyone can do it, yet in-depth enough to cover any major and not so major problems that could arise, and help you grow an amazingly successful first crop.
This is one of the best books I have ever read about growing weed and still after a couple of years of growing I refer to his guide. The fact that its not written as a text book and still has everything I need to know about growing is probably the main reason I believe this to be the best guide out there.

Also during my research I found out that Nederland Colorado has made it legal to sell weed – from what I have been reading you don’t need a dispensary license either. How cool is that, I used to live in CO and I think we are moving to Nederland now with this new law : ) oh, and the skiing.
This is the question that 482 residents voted on – Won by a fairly close 259 votes over 218.
“Shall the electors of the town of Nederland adopt an amendment to the Nederland town code, effective June 1, 2010, removing all criminal penalties under town law to buy, sell, possess, consume, transport, cultivate, manufacture and dispense marijuana and its concentrate and related paraphernalia by persons twenty one years of age and older?”
